Home Based Business Tax Deductions for 2009, 2010

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

In the past couple of years many Americans have opened home based businesses as a result of many business closings and layoffs. Not only do these businesses allow you to earn income at home but they can also offer many great tax deductions.

In order to get the most deductions possible for your home based business, you must stay very organized and track all of your expenses. You will want to save all receipts and use them to get you the most deductions possible.

Home Deductions

You can take a lot of deductions just from using your home as your primary place of business. You can take many deductions if you own your home and even if you rent your home.

You can deduct:

A percentage of utilities paid.

Telephone usage.

Internet access.

A percentage of your mortgage. (Depending on the amount of your house is used to operate the business.)

Homeowners insurance.

Property taxes.

Mortgage interest.

Rent.

Maintenance.

It is very important to save all receipts and they may be needed to provide proof for expenses paid. The home related tax deductions are simpler if you have designated a room in your home directly to the business. Trying to figure out the percentage of your home used to operate the business can get rather difficult if you have a computer in your living room that you run the business from.

Make sure you don’t overlook many normal business deductions such as office supplies, furniture, mileage, etc. These normal deductions along with home operating expenses could cut you tax bill dramatically and help you save money.

Finding a Niche that Isn’t Saturated

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

If you want to make money in any niche, you must first understand that niche completely… Paying attention to everything including your competition, your target customer, the industry and its trends and areas that are not being exploited all come into play… Someone I know decided to become an expert regarding washington homes. Before they even got in the game, they spent countless hours researching everything there was to know about the subject, finding what the customer wants that the market isn’t providing is crucial!

Last weekend I got together with a girl I am close with and it felt like she was not really paying attention to much at all… I asked her what was wrong and she proceeded to give me this long drawn out story of a big project coming up at work and the fact that there aren’t enough people working on it due to recent layoffs. She also appeared to be extremely worried as to the security of her job. Unfortunately, I find it hard to relate because I’ve been on top of the earn money online game for quite some time now and I’m not afraid of loosing my job due to the fact that I’m self employed… Honestly, after knowing what I know now, I would never want to trade shoes with her.

There are almost a million ways to pay the bills but the ones that rich people like to do most often seem to revolve around passive and residual income. Niche marketing on the internet is extremely centered on gaining passive revenue streams… I know a bunch of pet photographers in seattle that has done very well positioning himself in a niche and building a portfolio of stock images that generate him a very nice income stream.

The point is that niche marketing is extremely important when trying to sell a product or service. Focusing on a single effort makes a lot more sense then trying to push a broad range of unrelated topics… Why work twice as hard to be half as successful? It doesn’t matter if you’re a seattle photographer, a seattle real estate agent or an ambitious salesperson trying to make money online, with determination and effort you will reach the top of your niche!

Temporary Employees – Layoffs, Insurance, and Employment

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

It used to be that people didn’t worry too much if they were laid off from their job. In recent years, however, the situation has truly changed. Difficulties with the economy has made it problematic for anybody that received a temporary employee layoff to find another job. Worse yet, many of these temporary layoffs end up becoming permanent because the company gets in so much trouble as a result of the sagging economy. If you find yourself in this situation, seek out unemployment benefits and begin looking for any job that will be able to fill the void.

There are a number of different benefits to working in the state of Rhode Island. One of the benefits that is often overlooked is the fact that you can get ri temporary disability insurance which is much different than the disability insurance that is available in other states. You see, Rhode Island is one of four states in which it is possible for you to collect this insurance, even if you are injured off of the job. The employers where you’re working are required to have you covered for this, just in case you need to make use of it as a result of an injury.

Are you interested in working for a university in your local area? You might want to consider trying some unca employment on for size. There are a number of different things that you can do in order to get employed by this university, including working on the staff and even working on maintenance. A University of this size hires many people and from time to time they’re going to need new individuals in order to fill empty slots. You can be one of those people and be working for a university in your local area, a great job indeed.
