Metal Roof Shingles
Installing roof shingles is not difficult if you know the tricks. When you are repairing or building a home, this is considered the easiest repair and construction technique. When you are installing or re-roofing, always make sure that the attic is very dry and the day is not wet. Early morning, during the rain, or in the winter, the attic can be drenched from dew or precipitation. It is easier to roof your house on sunny days as it is easier for your shingles to dry faster.

During installation, the best choice is to use traditional roofing nails instead of a nail gun. Make sure you have removed all of the old shingles, cleaned the roof, and replaced any timbers or wood that is going to need to be replaced for the better roof. Although it does require a fair amount of work and labor, installing a roof is generally easy for most people to handle on their own. Once you get used to it, you will enjoy installing roof shingles on your own.

Leaf Guard Gutters
Some homes prefer to use leaf guard gutters inplace of traditional gutters. If you own your own home, it is important to clean out the gutters every few months, especially during the fall. When cleaning out a gutter, you will most definitely need a ladder. Do not try to stretch out while using the ladder because during the fall months the ground can be slick and the slightest offset in pressure can cause the ladder to slip and fall, which in turn can take you down with it.

The gutter cleaning brush made up of strong bristles to help clean up the tough to remove junk which has dried to the inside of the gutter. The gutter grabber is a great way to extend the reach of your arm, which in turn will allow you to move the ladder less.

Another tool will be the gutter grabber. It looks like a curved gardening shovel with an expendable pole at the end. This allow you to clean a wider section of the gutter faster by pulling in the leaves and junk collected back to you. However, for tough gunk which has been building up on the inside of the gutter, you will need to use something stronger, like the cutter brush.

Popcorn Ceiling Removal
Removing popcorn ceiling may be one of the things you want to do for a long time. You must have your roof tested for asbestos by a licenced lab that specializes in the testing and removal of asbestos before you even being to tackle this enormous task of removing the ceiling from your home. Check the government Directory of Accredited Laboratories for a lab in your area.

If your popcorn ceiling tests positive for asbestos, call a professional for the proper removal. Anything containing asbestos is never a do-it-yourself job. You are ready to free your home of unsightly ceilings if it doesn’t come back with asbestos.

The Foxhound Dog Breed

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Foxhounds were the original canine breeds in Great Britain to come under the domination of scientific breeding. There were hounds of more ancient origin, e.g., the Southern Hound and the Bloodhound; but a different breed was wanted towards the end of the 17th century to hunt the wild deer that had become somewhat scattered after Cromwell’s civil war.

The demand was therefore for a quicker hound than those previously known, and people devoted to the chase began to breed it.

Here are the characteristics of this breed:

Head:-

Somewhat broad, not peaked like the Bloodhound, but long from the apex to the frontal bones, eyebrows very prominent, cheeks cut clean from the eye to the nostril, low set ears and, in their natural condition, thin and shapely, but not large, nose large, level and strong jaw, and small dewlaps, and fierce expression.

Eyes:-

Very bright and deeply set, full of determination, and with a very steady expression. The look of the Foxhound is very remarkable.

Neck:-

Should be perfectly clean, no skin ruffle whatever. The length of neck is important, both for stooping and giving an air of majesty.

Shoulders:-

The blades should be well into the back, and should slant, otherwise be wide and strong, to meet the arms, that should be long and powerful.

Legs and feet:-

The bone should be perfectly straight from the arm downward, and descend in the same degree of size to the ankles. The knee should be almost flat and level; there should be no curve until coming to the toes, which should be very strong, round, cat-shaped, and every toe clean set as it were.

Coat:-

The coat is hard hair, but short and smooth, the texture is as stiff as bristles, but beautifully laid.

Colour:-

Belvoir tan, which is brown and black, perfectly intermixed, with white markings of various shapes and sizes. The white should be very opaque and clear. Black and white, with tan markings on head and stifles. Badger pied a kind of grey and white. Lemon pied, light yellow and white. Hare pied, a darker yellow and white.

Height:-

Dogs from 23-1/2 to 24 inches; bitches from 22 to 22-1/2 inches.
